Welcome home for Utah Air Guardsmen
By Lynn Wilde II
Deseret News
After six months of providing security for coalition and noncombatant forces, security for convoys, defending military bases and providing law enforcement duties, 25 Utah Air National Guard airmen came home Saturday from a mission that started on May 16.
The airmen, from the 151st Security Forces Squadron, were late landing at the Utah Air National Guard Base, so family, friends and supporters gathered in a waiting room on base.
"Mommy, where is Daddy?" one boy asked. His mother told him he had to wait for the plane.
While people waited for loved ones, some children ate doughnuts, their smiles made bigger by the frosting. Many of the children wore T-shirts with pictures of their fathers emblazoned on them, proclaiming "My prince has come. I call him daddy," and "My hero."
Brigham Young University fans mingled safely with University of Utah fans — their football rivalry suspended until the plane landed and the airmen returned.
Three generations of one family waited eagerly for Staff Sgt. Geoffrey Neill.
"We're really happy. It's really good timing," said Neill's wife, Jessie, of the return so close to Thanksgiving.
Neill's father, Glen, was happy for his son's return.
"Oh, this is really exciting," he said. "We're glad to get him home."
A voice announced the impending arrival of the C-130.
"Warm up the hugs and kisses," the voice called from the loudspeaker. "They're four minutes out."
A group of bikers, the Patriot Guard Riders, lined up, each holding an American flag, waiting to greet the airmen. They were joined by dignitaries from the base, led by Adj. Gen. Brian Tarbet.
When the plane landed, two firetrucks sprayed an arch of water for the plane to pass through. William Badger of the PGR said the arch was "Air Guard for hello."
After the airmen shook hands with the greeting party and made way for the assembled crowd, the crowd erupted in cheers and whistles.
Staff Sgt. Mike Bechwith met his twin sons, his daughter and wife with a family embrace. His wife couldn't stop crying, too choked up to talk.
One airman, Staff Sgt. Christopher Stevens, was holding his children, Cade, 4, and Savera, 2, in both arms. He said his time in the service was great, but he's not a hero.
"These guys are the real heroes," he said, motioning to his wife, Kristina, and his children, because they held the household together in his absence.
Returning airman Neill said he was "doggone excited" he was home with his family. He returns to a new house, one his wife bought when he was away and has never seen. His daughter, 7-year-old Halley, promised to bake him cookies in her toy oven when they returned home.
Six-year-old Samantha Hooper buried her face in her father's neck, her red eyes telling the tale of her feelings of her airman's homecoming, Tech Sgt. Matt Hooper.
"I'm happy to be home," Hooper said, while Samantha silently cried.

Brendan's X-RAY
My sweet little baby is really hurt. He has a broken arm. Right now he is is a splint and on Wednesday they will do some more x-rays and determine if he has to have surgery or if they can just cast it. He is having a hard time and wants the splint off. As you can imagine he is in a lot of pain. Without going into a lot of detail I ask and hope everyone will keep us in they prayers as we go through this very difficult time. It has been an extreme emotional roller coaster the past few days and I'm not sure when it will end.

We thought you should know.....
Chris and I are happy to tell all of you that we will soon be a family of 5! Cade and Savera are very excited to have a new baby at our house, and both have strong opinions as to what gender it will be. The baby will be due December 30th (we know great timing). We recently started telling our families and we thought this would be an interesting way to tell all of you. We will see how many of you check out the blog. We are a bit overwhelmed to think about having 3 kids, but we are excited and look forward to it!

Potty Training....
Yesterday I decided that I would bite the bullet and start potty training Hayden today. I had watched the Today show clip about the "Potty Whisperer". I found out that she does pretty much the same thing that Jennifer's mom does to potty train all her kids, and also Brent. So I loaded up with some of Hayden's favorite treats, chips, chocolate, Rice Krispie Treats, Juice, Chocolate milk, etc. I was so tired from not sleeping all night (another story for another time),that we got a late start at all this.
All of a sudden Hayden said, "Mama, I go potty?" So I said "okay, lets go!" Hayden said "No mama, I go myself." I said okay. I was curious as what he would do. So I followed him to the bathroom and he pushed me out of the way and said, "No mama, you stay there. He closed the door almost all the way. I peeked through the crack in the door and Hayden was taking off his diaper and the proceeded to crawl on top of the toilet. He sat down and all of a sudden started pooping! I was amazed! He did it all on his own! I could not believe it! I went and woke Shawn up to come see Hayden. Hayden was so happy and proud. When he saw Shawn he got real excited and said "Daddy, I go poo-poo in the toilet! It was so cute!
So far he has pooped in the toilet 3 times and not peed yet that I know of. Every time i turn around he is in the bathroom on the toilet. Or else cleaning the toilet after he gets off of it. His pull-up have been wet each time, so I am guessing that we are not done yet!
I promised Hayden that after his nap we would go to the store and get him BIG BOY pull ups (the training kind) and Big Boy underwear. He asked if we could get Thomas underwear. (No surprise there! Everything is trains and Thomas in this house!)
So far so good! Hopefully we can keep this up and Potty training will be over until it is Chases turn! YEAH!!!! Less poopie diapers for me to change! What a glorious day! (so far!) lol!

Open house before Chris leaves!
We are going to be having an open house before Chris leaves and you are all invited to come. It will be at our house on Sunday May 11th. I know this is Mother's Day, but it is the only day we can do it. We will start about 1pm and it will go as late as people are still there (which will probably be pretty late). We realize that most of you probably have plans, so we just ask that if you can work it into your schedule to come when you can. You can come early or late, and stay for as little or as long as you want. We will have some food, but I am not sure what yet. So, if you would like to bring something contact me (619-8064), or else we hopefully will see you there. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello!
I am flying into town with my boys Thursday April 10-Monday 14th. I will not have access to a car or the funds to rent one. (Well lets say I would rather not rent one if I don't have too.) I was wondering if anyone had a extra car that I might be able to drive for the weekend, if you are comfortable with that. I know this is a strange request, but I would appreciate it. I could pay you like a rental (small fee) If you want and of course I will pay my own gas, and bring it back to you full. Thanks! Let me know. See you ladies at Brianne's shower! Did you all get your invites?

Prueitt Family Pictures
We had our family pictures done a week ago Friday. Boy was that ever eventful. Hayden, my little defiant one, did not want to participate at all! Therefore, we did not get any pics of Chase and Hayden together except of one. Which did not turn out great at all! But we did get a few good family pictures, thank goodness!
Enjoy!

Peyton Stevens
Hi there!
At Easter so many people told me this was the first they had seen our little guy that I thought I'd share some pictures with everyone. He was born 10/9, weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19 1/2" long. He is the happiest, most alert baby I've ever seen. We sure enjoy him!

Brianne's Bridal Shower
Hello! I will be sending out invitations to Brianne's Bridal shower this week. The date of the shower is Saturday April 12th, at 6:30 pm. It is being held at Josh and Tanah's clubhouse ( same place as Easter). We will be having a lite dinner. It is a Kitchen & Grocery theme. Please bring a recipe on a 3x5 recipe card for her cookbook. Here wedding invitations will be going out in April sometime, Her wedding date is May 31st. It is Memorial Day weekend, so be sure not to plan any vacations so that you can come. She and Justin will be getting married in the Salt Lake Temple at 11:00am that day. I think she is taking out her endowments on Tuesday May 27th, or Wednesday May 28th. She will be letting you all know about that also. -- Tammy
Easter Egg Hunt Update
Last night on the phone Grandma asked me to update everyone about the easter egg hunt. Kenny and Nora donated tons of candy for Easter and so you do not need to purchase plastic easter eggs unless you would still like to do so. Grandma thought that she would put the candy in little bags and put names on them so they could find there own bag, instead of all the Easter eggs. What so you think? Please call Grandma and tell her if you like the idea or not. Wish I could be there! --Tammy

Easter Update....EASTER EGG HUNT....
Hello everyone,
We were talking about Easter tonight and since Grandma wanted to do the egg thing but cannot afford it we are going to start something new. Every family that has kids that comes needs to bring about a dozen plastic eggs that you have already filled (with whatever you choose to fill it with....candy, money, toys, etc.). Grandparents it is your choice if you want to bring eggs. Then we will hide all of the eggs and have a little hunt. We will just figure out how many eggs each child gets so that we can make it even but they can also hunt for them. For all of you heart broken adults out there that look forward to the egg I am sorry but this activity is going to be just for the kids. If you have any questions let us know. Also, please let all of those family members that do not check the blog know so that we can all come prepared. Grandma is going to be making food assignments soon so if you have specific requests talk to grandma.

I was going through pictures and feeling a bit nostalgic when I came across this picture I took last year (at Tina's wedding) of Cash's hand against grandma's hand.
I just love it & wanted to share!

Blog Posts
Ryan & Jennifer gave the idea of letting everyone post there own things onto this blog. I think it is a great idea. I did email some people with the info. If you want to post your own, let me know and I can add you as a "contributor/author". If you don't want to and would like me add your info, I can do that too! If you contribute on your own, please make sure you are posting ONLY. Please do not change any settings or anything else. It would just be a nightmare to reset everything! Thanks! Have fun!
Our blog!
Hi everyone! Grandma told me she was going to start up a family newsletter once again. We discussed starting a blog instead since everyone is on the computer anyway. It will save her time, money and frustration. I told her that I would do the blog for her. So, with that, please email me anything that you would like to have on the blog. You can either email me on my personal email, or the new family email. You can call me or grandma for wither of those. We would love to post anything about your families, funny things that happened, awards, birthdays, anniversaries, just anything! We want this to be fun and something everyone will want to log onto often just to see what is happening in everyone's life, etc. If you already have your own family blog, please let me know so that we can link it. Well....that is that! Now it is up to you to have something posted. Let me know! I will update it as I receive updates from you! Take care. We hope to hear form you soon!
